The site is hosted on a Dell 2400 server. PIII 600 Mhz. The OS is Linux and the web-server is Apache, The web server runs both MySql and Postgres Databases. However this site has Berkley DBM as its database! This is used for fast access but with the assumption that database updates will be few. The server has facilities for mod-perl, php, tomcat and velocity. For this site we are mainly dependent upon mod-perl. For mail we use sendmail, though shortly you may find it as postfix as we would like to move to postfix. The server is connected to the internet (above.net) with a 512Kbps line, with burst speeds of 10MBPS (max 10% of the time). There is a firewall, in which 'ping' and 'telnet' are closed.
