Location:        About 70 kilometers from Kochi, in central Kerala, india. Kuttanaad is a vast area bordered by the Arabian Sea on the West, Alappuzha in the North, Kollam in the South and Kottayam to the East.

Weather:    Warm and sultry during summer (March to June), moderately heavy monsoon twice a year (June-September and October-November), comfortably warm during December-February.

Hotels:    Did not sight many. Few Five star heritage resorts are situated close by. The house boats would probably be ideal if one can afford them. Costs from Rs 2000 per day plus food at actuals. For Hotels, Kochi would provide better choice by way of facilities, cost, location etc.

Local Produce:    Coir products such as carpets, foot mats, matting, hammocks etc.

Boat Races:    The annual Boat races conducted in the back waters are a big tourist attraction. The speciality boats are the long "Chundan Valloms"
with its crew of about 150 rowers, speeding towards their destinations and glory during the races. The racing season commences in July / August and finishes in December.
